Central America Studies

I wanted to study more of Central America  before moving from Mexico to South America in Build Your Library.

I got the audiobook:
1481429000
Island Treasures  which is mostly set in Cuba

and one of the early chapters talks about old an young coconuts, so we picked up one of each at the grocery store.

After googling videos on how to open each kind, we got them open and taste tested the water, young slime  I mean meat, and the old meat:

Some other books we used:
0689825838

1561457876

Juan Bobo Puerto Rica (and all over)

For a great chapter book that includes many different Central America countries and family history, we loved
0545430984

0152405380
With this book we also listed to this Jimmy Buffet song and some Bob Marley Music

More Books:
Dear Deer! Said the Turtle - Carribean Islands
The Golden Flower - Guatamala
Oye Celia - Cuba
The Umbrella by Jan Brett - Costa Rica
When Monkeys Came Back -Costa Rica
The Good Garden: How One Family Went from Hunger to Having Enough - Honduras
The Most Beautiful Place in the World by Ann Cameron Guatamala

We also decided to do a taste test and anatomy study of a Papaya:
(spoiler alert, they needed lots of lemon and lime juice and honey to make them palatable, I am sure local is better!)
We also colored coloring pages of Papayas, and watched a video of how Papaya are grown and harvested.

When researching Central American documentaries, we stumbled upon

B00O9ZSJBO

Which inspired an animal study on sloths and book choices about sloths:
